weekend portraits

 stills

So going home this weekend I saw an opportunity to take some portraits of the family.

Now it's quite obvious that most of the images are of my nephew, well he's quite a character and I knew I'd capture something brilliant

with him.

The first image with the bricks is really here because I just love the back lighting. I used no lighting equipment in any of these shots, all of the lighting is totally natural.

The second image was part of a competition I had with my nephew of 'who can shout louder'.

I love the vein popping out of his neck as he really went for it. Inevitably - I lost this round...

The third image is of mother-o-mine as she was preparing our

sunday lunch.

The kitchen has these amazing old light bulbs with different filaments. I was originally trying to capture the front of her head known as her 'face' but I think I took too long and she got back to preparing the beef. The lighting from the old bulbs gives a warmer look which I lack in a lot of my imagery.

This last image is my favourite. Mother-o-mine was reading Mr. Men with littlen and that three-year-old attention span lost it's way. This shot was all about the timing. I'd like to have this framed some time soon.
