portraits in the park
Off to the park for a picnic and some portraits by the stream. The promise of walking away with a few appealing images of the wife and the difficult job of choosing just one image to share and talk around.

Looking around the web trying to find tips on shooting portraits, most of what you'll find is the technical aspect of it all... What lenses to use, and understanding the three pillars of photography (aperture, shutter-speed and ISO). This is great and if you don't already, get to know them. Once you do you can focus on all the other - just as important stuff.
Generally when I shoot I like to be as invisible as possible.
Let the subjects focus wander from what you are doing no-matter in the frame or out. This will allow you to capture more interesting angles than the classic 'look at me and say cheese' head-on, as well as capture the subject more naturally producing an image that looks like you weren't even there.
